A Little Birthday Party Recap

Toddler Birthday Party

Last weekend we celebrated Lily’s 3rd birthday! I seriously don’t get where the time goes. The days go slow, the years go fast. It’s really not fair.

Anywhooo I thought I’d share a little recap with you guys because her cake and set up was just way too cute not to.

The last couple years the parties were more for the adults and family… especially her first bday where it was more of a “WE MADE IT!” celebration for Tyler and I.  This was the first one where she had a better idea of what was going on and was more about the kids.
My requirements are usually that there’s champagne for the adults (although we skipped this year… unfortunately), pinterest-inspired decorations, and chocolate covered strawberries.

Lily had TWO requirements:

1) There had to be a “cookie cake” (CHECK)
2) There had to be party hats (We forgot that we had bought them until the end of the party…. half a check)

HOW GORGEOUS IS THIS CAKE!

If you’re in Cape Breton, message me and I’ll get you the contact for the amazingly talented woman who made it. As far as I know, there is no website, otherwise I would link it <3

Here’s what we like to do for Lily’s Bday

Food
Personally, I think the whole ordering pizza thing is tacky (we do that after everyone goes home. Ha!) At least now while it’s mostly adults attending her parties. So we like to have a spread of:
Veggies and dip (ranch and a couple different types of hummus)
Cheese, meat, and crackers. Again, kept it pretty simple for the kids. But if you’re feeling fancy, check out my guide for an epic charcuterie
Fruit
Chocolate covered strawberries (an absolute fave)

Drinks
Champagne for the adults (Skipped this year b/c there were more kids…. we all regretted it!)
Lemon cucumber water
S.Pellegrino
Juice boxes

Decorations
My absolute fave part. We kept it pretty simple this year. The theme was mint, pink, and gold and decorations consisted of:
Rose Gold “3” balloon – bought at a local party supplies store but you can get them usually at Michael’s, the dollar store, and walmart
White and gold banner – Martha Stewart Collection at Michael’s
Plates and Napkins – GAH! I wish I had taken photo’s of these. We couldn’t decide on what ones to get( also from the Martha Stewart collection at Michaels) so we just grabbed a whole bunch. Some were floral, some were solid gold, some were victorian looking with gold trim. All in mint, pink, and gold of course.
Block Letters – We bought these at Walmart for the first bday and keep using them each year!

Florals
Because Lily’s birthday is in the spring, we’ve always just had tulips around at her birthday. Somehow she remembered this and anytime her party would come up in conversation, she’d remind me that we needed to buy tulips.

… I’m feeling like she’s gonna be a little Lisa Vanderpump-y as an adult.

Super simple this year! We’ve had one of those banners every year for her. I usually make them, but this white and gold one is way too cute! (And so much easier!)
