Beauty Sleep: Multitasking Skincare While You Catch Some Z’s

beauty sleep: multitasking skincare

What do I love even more than a solid morning routine? An even better nighttime routine!

There’s really nothing like throwing your hair up in a scrunchy and washing the day away. Personally, I find my nighttime skincare routine is more important than what I put on my face in the morning. Why, you ask? Well! Your skin loses the most moisture while you sleep. I mean, think about it… 8 hrs without water? Your skin is waking up thirsty.

If you’re reading this blog, you probably love a good face mask and a lip scrub. But, it’s 2020. We’ve got shit to do. And you know how I’m all about making things as efficient as possible. So yes, it is absolutely possible to amp up your beauty routine while you sleep!

So girl, wash your face and do something for yourself every night while you sleep. All you need is 10 minutes to get 8 hours of some serious beauty sleep.

Multitasking Skincare

 Prep

Cleanse.
You’ve heard this before, but seriously….always wash your face! I’m obsessed with the Monat cleansers. They actually leaves my skin feeling super hydrated which I’ve honestly never gotten from a cleanser before. So I can  hop out of the shower and deal wit a screaming kid for a minute without my skin getting all tight before moisturizing. I know you know what I’m talking about.

Serum.
I love an essence and then and anti-aging serum over night. Something with hyaluronic acid is always great for a boost of hydration.

Moisturizer.
Always an eye cream to work some magic, and then a heavy night cream. Your night cream should be heavier than your day cream.

Now for the boost of magic…

Lip Mask.
Yup a lip mask is a real thing and I’m telling you, it’s magic in a jar. You think I’m over exaggerating, don’t you? That’s okay. Try this one from Laneige and then, think again. I apply a thick layer of this at night and wake up with baby soft lips. And I even use a lighter layer of it during the day because the gloss it leaves is just so pretty.

Sleeping mask.
Sleeping masks are amazing because they layer almost like a moisturizer. Like, you’re not left with an annoying sheet slipping down your face or your hair getting stuck in a peel off mask. If you’re looking to splurge a tad on a sleeping mask, again, I love the Laneige one (Queen of beauty sleep!). If you’re looking to save, this one from Oh K beauty is also bomb! I love it for travel because it’s just too easy!

Hands.
We often forget about our hands (ahem, are you using sunscreen here?) This is why we can really tell someone’s age when we see their hands by their face. My little hack? Nipple cream! It makes the best hand cream and bed time. I also throw on a cuticle cream first. I use the Sally Hansen one, but if you have a fave, please let me know!

Humidifier.
I kind of forgot humidifiers were even a thing until I ended up with a kid who constantly has a cough. We started putting one in our room to boost the moisture in the dry winters and now I won’t let it leave our room! It helps with dry skin, cracked lips, and even dry eyes.

Okay, now all I want to do is give my skin some love and go get some beauty sleep. What are YOUR night time skincare routines?? Any products you’d recommend to the DOTR community???
