Detox On The Rocks

May 25, 2017

Yes, It is important to moisturize… EVEN with oily skin!

Way, way back, I worked in skin care and cosmetics and the thing I heard most was “I don’t have to moisturize because I have oily skin”. NO. Just NO.

Once upon a time, I was probably the same way.  My face always get super oily… or at least it used to. (Between this and the Oily Hair post from a couple weeks ago, you guys are probably thinking I’m disgusting)

But here’s the thing, your skin can be oily and still be DEHYRDATED. You don’t have to be dry to be dehydrated. There’s a difference.

You might think that because your skin produces natural oils, you won’t age as fast. BUT your face will produce the oils it needs. Having oily, yet dehydrated skin, will still age you.

In fact! Moisturizing regularly, will help keep the oil and shine at bay!

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again…. if you’re someone who doesn’t moisturize regularly, PLEASE use at least a night cream before bed.  Your body loses so much hydration at night, that if anything, this is the most important time to lather up.

My tip for moisturizing with oily skin!

The Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel from Clarins. I’ve been using this one for a long time and they recently just switched their formula, and somehow made it even better! (I think it used to be called Hydra-Quench?)

It smells AMAZING! It’s specifically made for hydrating dehydrated skin. And with it’s new formula, it gives you a mat finish! This will reduce shine AND save $$$ on all those mat finish primers.

What I also love about this one (And many other company’s will do this too) is that you can buy the same moisturizer but for difference skin types. For instance, I typically use their moisturizer for “normal to combination” skin. However, in the winter, my skin really does dry up a bit and I’ll up it to their Hydra-Essentiel for “Normal to Dry” skin. They also have one for “very dry”. I love this because I know I like the product and I don’t want to go searching for a new line with a heavier formula.

I can definitely be a bit of a product junky, but this is one thing I haven’t budged on for a few years now.  I’m always up for trying new things, but I’m very loyal to this moisturizer. I’ve also shared with you Clarins’ Boosters. For me, I find their skin care products really just work.

Seriously, if you have oily skin, try the Hydra-Essentiel. But whatever you do, do NOT skip the moisturizer. (And don’t forget to moisturize your neck!)
