Detox On The Rocks

charcoal tooth paste for whitening
June 16, 2017

Go ahead and toss those whitestrips, kay?

Ew. Who actually enjoys wearing mini plastic sheets over their teeth for 30 minutes anyways? The goo burns your gums, you can barely talk… not that you’d want someone to see you with those nasty things on your teeth…. and the tooth sensitivity afterwards! ACK!

I can’t do it.

And I’m not about to give up coffee and wine and all things stain worthy.

One of my very first posts was about an Activated Charcoal Mask. Seriously, one of the most effective masks I’ve ever used. Go try it.

I instantly fell in love with activated charcoal and you guys, your feedback was great!

I shared a few other things you can use activated charcoal for and one of them was as a toothpaste. Okay, breaking open those little capsules… as worth it as it may be… it’s fucking messy.

There are tons of products out there now using charcoal –  I’m sure you’ve all seen them. I like to keep things as natural as possible and haven’t tried too many store bought products because I prefer to make my own sometimes.

A friend of mine, Jill (check out her blog! Down to Earth Wellness) shared this toothpaste on instagram recently. I obviously had to try it.

It’s made by Nelson Naturals… go check out their site too! I love love love.

You simply just dip your toothbrush in the little pot and brush away. It’s definitely messy but won’t stain your sink as much as using charcoal on its own. And DON’T WORRY!! It doesn’t stain your teeth. It comes right off with water as you continue brushing.

♥ PERK: No teeth sensitivity afterwards. (At least I didn’t experience any. If anyone else does, please share!)

♥ Another perk! It tastes great! Just like any ol’ mint toothpaste but not as overpowering.

♥ AND another! You can literally hear your teeth squeak from the cleanliness.

♥ Okay… there’s another! Nelson Naturals has a remineralizing toothpaste. The activated charcoal one is basically just that, PLUS the activated charcoal for whitening.

activated charcoal common sense

Common sense is required…. but I’m sure you’ve all got this. If you can be a little careless, seriously, go read my story about my first experience with the activated charcoal mask.

Try it guys! You’ll love it!

XOXO
