Detox On The Rocks

May 8, 2017

Mon-YAY! Said no one ever…

Maybe it’s because I don’t work a Monday to Friday, Nine to Five… But seriously.

TGIM

Poor Monday.  No one likes it. But here’s how I see it…

Monday’s are mini fresh starts.  It’s your chance to set the tone for the week. So what if you indulged over the weekend? Or you haven’t been to the gym in a few weeks? Or maybe you’ve simply just been an asshole and you need to re-think a few things.

It’s no GRAND New Years Resolution. No high expectations or drastic results. It’s not evening choosing to give something up for a month (like drinking, because let’s face it… come the 23rd, you’re rewarding yourself with one glass of wine and waking up half dressed with flaked mascara.)

Monday/ Mon-yay

Think about it.

If you’re planning on getting back into a gym routine… you’re starting Monday.  If you’re trying to cut out alcohol or gluten or whatever it is you need to change… you’re not waiting until Wednesday.

And whatever your ambitions are. Maybe it’s getting back to the gym, taking a yoga class, accomplishing a task….

If you have these plans set, and you make an excuse on Monday to not do them.. you’re going to make excuses the rest of the week. It’s so easy to continue putting things off.

Thank God it's Monday

I don’t know. Maybe I need more self-help than others.  But as much as I need a couple glasses of wine after a long week, and a good sleep-in… I need a fresh Monday start.

And I’m ALL about mini steps. Committing to a lifestyle change or giving something up for, say, a whole month, can be a little daunting. The end seems so far. I find, for MYSELF, I see better results when I take things a week at a time. (Cutting gluten for one week? Easy Peasy)

I really have not been feeling my best lately. So starting MON-YAY (how many times have you wanted to tell me to go fuck myself?) These are my goals for the week!

  1. Drink 3L of water/day
  2. Get outside everyday
  3. No Starbucks (ugh)
  4. Lip balm/hand cream before bed (I have troll hands right now)
  5. Don’t forget to take vitamins!

Now it’s out there. You guys can hold me to this! Does anyone else have a healthy relationship with Mondays?  Or is it just me?
