Cranberry Hot Toddy
November 21, 2018

Warm Up With a Spiced Cranberry Hot Toddy

Cranberry Tea Hot Toddy

Brrrr!

I get I’m from the North and all, but damn is the East Coast ever cold. I hear all the time “Nova Scotia must be like the tropics to you!” and “So is our winter like summer to you?” NO. NO IT IS NOT. THIS SHIT IS COLD! Living by the water, wind that will knock you over, and ice pellets falling from the sky…. NO THANKS.

We’ve definitely been cozying up by our fire place under furry blankets watching Sabrina. (Has anyone else started watching this on Netflix? Not usually my type of thing but some how I’m obsessed)

After many nights sipping on tea and hot toddy’s to get rid of the chill, it sparked an idea to do a little twist. You guessed it! A Cranberry Hot Toddy.  And we all know how much I love a twist. (like this delicious maple syrup old fashion. Anything little treat we’ve been sipping on lately)

Let’s warm up

I’m sure wherever you are, it’s beginning to get a little chilly if winter hasn’t already made it’s full arrival. Get ready to have a new favourite sip while you’re hibernating this winter. Also! This Cranberry Hot Toddy is totally a festive after-dinner cocktail to offer your guests during the holidays!

Cranberry Hot Toddy

Ingredients:

  • Loose leaf black tea (I use Art of Tea)
  • Boiled water
  • Slice of  fresh ginger
  • A few whole cloves
  • A few whole black peppercorns
  • Sprinkle Nutmeg
  • 1.5 oz bourbon
  • 2 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • Orange wedge and cinnamon stick to garnish

Here’s what you do:

In a tea infuser (or loose leaf tea bag – but I find an infuser works best), combine the tea, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Poor in boiling water and let steep for about 5 minutes. Remove the tea mixture and add in bourbon, cranberry juice, and maple syrup. Stir! Squeeze in a slice of orange and add a cinnamon stick.

If this doesn’t warm you up, I don’t know what will. And seriously, while you’re sipping on your Cranberry Hot Toddy, you’ve gotta check out The Chilling Tales of Sabrina on Netflix.

Before you go, a few more holiday sips to keep you cozy
