Nightstand Essentials <3

Nightstand essentials

I love to share my skincare tips and tricks on weekends. I feel like this is when you need to amp up the skin care routines. Ya know, after a long week of work… a few too many glasses of wine on a Saturday night (but really, is there a such thing as too much wine?).

Not to mention, you’re more likely to start new routines and take better care of yourself at the beginning of a new week .

I always say….nighttime skin care is most important. If you’re going to skip cleansing and moisturizing your face just please please please don’t skip it before bed.

At night, your skin loses more of it’s moisture than it does during the day.  This is why night creams are much heavier than your typical moisturizer. And please! Still moisturize before bed even if you have OILY SKIN.

On top of your typical cleanse-moisturize-brush-teeth routine, there’s those little extras that go a long way. At the end of the day, nobody wants to spent a large chunk of time getting ready for bed. I’m guilty for skipping the small steps all the time. But what helps me is to keep the smaller… seemingly less important products next to my bed.

This way I have no excuse! (AND they don’t just get lost in my bathroom drawers)

Here’s what I keep on my nightstand!

♥ A glass/bottle of water. Always hydrate hydrate hydrate. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night parched. Nobody wants to get out of bed half asleep and walk barefoot on a cold floor to the kitchen for some water. You’d probably just go back to sleep to avoid it. Keeping water next to your bed will help you from waking up dehydrated and you’re more likely to sip on it if you like to read or watch a movie before bed.

♥ Lip Balm. Something heavy and extra nourishing. Nobody wants lip lines and chapped lips are the worst! I love the jasmine lip butter from Korres. (It’s paraben free!)

♥ Eye drops. This is more of a person preference because I’ve had SO many issues with my eyes in the past year. But I recommend it for anyone who wears contacts. Or lives in a dry climate. And I don’t mean those gross Visine ones. Get the real tears – they are much better for your eyes. I use gel drops at night. (I definitely skipped them last night and I’m regretting it today. UGH!)

♥ Hand cream. Like your lips, your hands kind of get forgotten about when you think of anti-aging. Think about how rough you are on your hands ALL. THE. TIME. For me, after a night at work where my hands are in and out of water, cleaning solution and sometimes even bleach… they are wrecked! I like to use this hand salve  (how great is the name!?)

BONUS TIP: Wear sleep gloves when your hands get extra dry! Apply your salve or a super heavy hand cream and wear the gloves over top. They help to really seal in the moisture. They’re a bit weird at first… a little Michael Jackson-y. But you’ll notice a big difference! They’re great for people with eczema too.
