My Ride or Die Drugstore Products

In a perfect world, everything we use would be non-toxic and organic. Everything would also be luxurious but affordable. But it’s not a perfect world and sometimes, we’ve gotta just go with what works.

I do try to pay close attention to what goes on and in my body. I do this because we can’t control everything, and our bodies need all the care and attention we can give them. However, again, sometimes you’ve just gotta live a little and accept what works for you.

As much as I love a good late-night online Sephora haul with a glass of cab in my hand, there a certain products I find myself continuously returning to the drug store for. NO APOLOGIES.

That’s right. Nothing luxurious. No trip to my fave salon. No bragging to girls on Instagram about the shit I can afford. I’m talking an isle over from the contact solution, grab a pack of gum on my way out, kind of stuff.

But it fucking works.

John Frieda Shampoo

Not the $4 drug store kind of stuff… more like $14 range. But I have been using this stuff for YEARS and anytime I’ve attempted a switch (even to salon stuff) I deeply regret it. See, I have super fine, oily hair. Most shampoos and conditioners make it look even more oily, make it get oily faster, or really weigh it down. John Frieda’s shampoos are hydrating but very light weight and allow me to go a couple days between washes. OH! And they smell amazing

Hask Argan Oil

I believe I first bought this stuff at the grocery store. Just one of those… “I’m bored, what is this?” purchases. Again, my very fine, oily hair has never really allowed me to try hair oils. Because what happens? By the end of the day, my hair looks like it needs to be re-washed. But this miracle grocery/drug store hair oil makes my locks incredibly soft without making it greasy or weighing it down!
BONUS: it’s under $10

I’ve since tried other oils, thinking “Apparently I can use oils now!” Nope. Not as much luck with the others.

Clean & Clear Foaming Cleanser

I prefer to take my makeup off with oils… always! But when I’m on the go or travelling, I don’t love to bring a tub of coconut oil with me. And since as long as I can remember, this is my go to. Until probably less than a year ago, I had no idea this was a cleanser. I think I saw somewhere on the bottle about it removing mascara so I grabbed it thinking it was just a makeup remover. It’s foaming so I find it kind of drying and because I didn’t know it was an actual cleanser, I always cleanse with something gentle afterwards.

But it makes removing any makeup so easy! I have very sensitive eyes and hate to tug and my lids trying to remove mascara. Literally, foam, gently rub over eyes under the shower, and let it rinse off. None of that gross black left around your lash line!

Revlon Tweezers

I feel like tweezers are very personal. There are so many kinds! Slant tip, straight edge, pointed. Gah! And they can get $$$. If you’re like me, tweezers are like bobby pins: you know you have a million of them, you just don’t where. I always always always buy these slant tip tweezers from Revlon. They always do just what I need them too and really don’t break the bank.
